Height: 80–120 cm
Spacing: 30–45 cm between plants
Transplant to finish: 20–24 weeks from transplant (flowers reliably from the second year, though some plants may bloom lightly in the first season)
Transplant carefully, taking care not to disturb the taproot. Plants establish best when left undisturbed once planted.
Pinching: Not recommended. Pinching delays flowering and reduces the quality of the primary stems.
Staking: Usually not required. In fertile soils or exposed sites, support netting may be beneficial to keep stems upright.
Frost: Hardy once established. Tolerates moderate to heavy frosts and overwinters well in temperate climates. Protect young seedlings from severe frost.
Photoperiod: Facultative long-day—flowers more freely under long summer days.

Soil: Well-drained, moderately fertile loam or sandy loam
pH range: 6.0–7.5
Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring as new growth emerges. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which encourages soft growth and fewer flowers.
💧 Watering
Keep evenly moist during establishment.
Once established, plants are drought tolerant and prefer deep, infrequent watering.
Avoid poorly drained soils, particularly during winter.
✂️ Harvesting & Post-Harvest
Harvest stage: Harvest when flowers are fully open and pollen is just beginning to shed.
Stem length: 50–80 cm ideal for bouquets.
Post-harvest:
Remove lower foliage.
Place immediately into clean water with floral preservative.
Vase life is typically 7–10 days.
Seed heads can be left to mature for attractive dried arrangements or to provide food for birds.
