Establishment phase (3–4 weeks):
Ongoing growth:Ideal range: 18–25°C
Minimum winter survival: 1.5°C not frost hardy
 Longer days promote flowering, once established Gerberas will continually flower with consistent water and nutrients.
Winter care: Reduce water, maintain above 1.5°C resume feeding in spring
🌾 Soil & Watering
Use well-drained media; never allow standing water
Maintain even soil fertility and consistent moisture
Avoid wetting foliage; drip irrigation preferred
Crates/pots should allow free drainage and be kept off bare soil
🧼 Hygiene & Disease Prevention
Critical sanitation: Gerbera stems clog easily from bacteria
Use sparkling clean buckets and tools
✂️ Harvesting & Post-Harvest
Harvest when blooms are fully open; color develops as flower matures
Morning harvest preferred—stems are most hydrated
Place immediately in holding solution (chlorine-based)
Communicate hygiene importance to buyers—clean vases = longer vase life
Harvest by pulling stems, not cutting, to reduce pathogen spread from tools
Year-round production possible with heat, light, and long-day conditions
